🔒 Runs entirely in your browser with GDAL WebAssembly — the same PROJ engine used by QGIS, PostGIS, and ArcGIS. Nothing is uploaded. Output units: degree.
Worked example — the centre of this system's area of use: -116.54, 50.685 (EPSG:4326 lon, lat) = -116.54, 50.685 (EPSG:4269).
EPSG:4269 is NAD83 — the North American Datum of 1983 geographic coordinate system, with latitude and longitude in degrees. It is the standard datum for US federal and state data: census TIGER files, USGS products, most state GIS portals.
NAD83 and WGS 84 were identical when defined, but have drifted apart as the North American plate moves — they now differ by 1–2 metres depending on location. For mapping at neighbourhood scale the difference rarely matters; for survey-grade work it does.

Frequently asked questions
Is NAD83 the same as WGS 84?
Nearly, but not exactly. They agreed in 1983; today they differ by roughly 1–2 metres in the continental US because NAD83 is fixed to the North American plate while WGS 84 tracks the global frame. Treating them as identical is fine for most web mapping, wrong for surveying.
When should I use EPSG:4269 vs EPSG:4326?
Use 4269 when working with US government data that declares it (TIGER, many state portals) so you stay consistent with the source. Use 4326 for GPS data, GeoJSON, and international exchange. Converting between them with a proper datum transformation (as this converter does) avoids the metre-level offset.
What projected systems pair with NAD83?
The NAD83 UTM zones (EPSG:26901–26923) and the US State Plane zones. If you need distances or areas from NAD83 lat/long data, reproject to the local UTM or State Plane zone first.
