Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information QuickMapTools ("the Service", operated by Daniel O'Donohue / MapScaping) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.
1. Your Geospatial Files Stay on Your Device
QuickMapTools processes your geospatial data entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Files you upload for conversion, buffering, reprojection, visualisation, or any other tool are never sent to our servers. They do not leave your device.
Pro users who save workflows to the cloud choose to upload the workflow configuration itself (operation steps and parameters) — not the geospatial files the workflow processes.
2. Information We Collect
Account information
If you create an account (required only for Pro features), we collect your email address. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider.
Billing information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status (plan, status, billing period end) to grant Pro access.
Saved workflows (Pro only)
Workflow configurations you save are stored in our database, linked to your account ID. You can delete any saved workflow at any time.
Usage analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns (which tools are popular, referrers, broad geographic region). Google Analytics may set cookies. You can opt out using Google's browser add-on.
Server logs
Our hosting provider retains standard server logs (IP address, request path, timestamps) for operational security and debugging. These are rotated periodically.
3. Third-Party Services (Sub-processors)
- Stripe — payment processing (privacy policy)
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting (privacy policy)
- Vercel — web application hosting (privacy policy)
- Google Analytics — usage analytics (privacy policy)
4. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the Service and its paid features;
- To process payments and manage your subscription;
- To communicate with you about your account, security, or material changes;
- To understand how the Service is used and improve it;
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. If you close your account, we delete your profile, saved workflows, and subscription record within 30 days, except records we are required to retain for tax or legal reasons (billing history is retained for 7 years as required by tax law).
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate data;
- Delete your account and associated data;
- Export your data in a portable format;
- Object to certain processing or withdraw consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email sales@mapscaping.com. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Cookies
We use cookies for essential functionality (keeping you signed in) and analytics (Google Analytics). You can disable cookies in your browser, though authenticated features will not work without them.
8. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Transfers
Our sub-processors operate globally. When you use the Service, your account and billing data may be processed in the United States, European Union, or other regions. Our providers maintain appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or through the Service. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
