About This Tool
Download active and dormant volcano locations as point data for any country in the world. Sort by elevation to surface the highest volcanic peaks first. Coverage is strongest in Japan, the United States (Cascades, Hawaii, Alaska), Iceland, Italy, New Zealand, Mexico, and the Andean countries of Chile, Peru, and Argentina. Useful for geological mapping, natural hazard planning, volcanology databases, and mountain recreation.
Point Data — What That Means
Each volcano is delivered as a single point at the summit — a latitude/longitude coordinate with name, elevation, and region. These are not lava flow polygons, volcanic hazard zones, or topographic rasters. Elevation values (in metres) come from SRTM data via GeoNames.
