About This Tool
Download named glacier locations as point data for any glaciated country. Coverage is strongest in Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, New Zealand, France, Italy, and the Andean countries of Argentina and Chile. Also strong for Nepal and other Himalayan nations. Useful for climate research, hydrology, mountain recreation planning, and environmental monitoring. For ice extent polygons, consider the Randolph Glacier Inventory (RGI).
Point Data — What That Means
Each glacier is a single point at its centroid — a latitude/longitude coordinate with name and region. These are not ice-extent polygons, glacier outlines, or mass balance data layers.
